Then you’ll really know if you have documentation.įinally, having some sort of cadence or check-in to make sure all the documentation is up-to-date and that the mechanics of the operation are still going smoothly is the final piece. I suggest stress-testing your documentation by giving a playbook to someone who doesn’t know the process and is seeing the guide for the first time. That person loses productivity because they are helping everyone, and it becomes a giant catch-up process. When we started off, we had people who knew a lot of the process, but they didn’t have any of it documented. Do you have advice for other Ops teams?ĭocumentation. The Stack side is purely software, so it’s almost fully automated. When you think about AngelList Venture, there are heavy operations there. For us, it was helpful to implement a tool like Avenue which lets us understand in more detail the activity of our operations team, how frequent certain problems occur, the SLAs of resolving them, and have a baseline to measure improvements over time. ![]() Operations teams often manage a lot of manual work that often goes untracked and is therefore difficult to quantify. How do you think about scaling an Operations team? I knew we had to automate some of the processes. The struggle operationally was that there were always so many moving parts, and so much of the work was manual. Our BizOps team has two primary goals: Looking at OKRs and KPIs to make sure they are being tracked correctly, and the second piece is working on the go-to-market strategy, pricing, and other higher-level work. What were the biggest challenges your new team faced? Your role evolved from the data layer to the BizOps side. In that respect, we realized we had to go the lightweight route, which is when we implemented Avenue. I worked cross-functionally with Engineering and Product to understand if they can build the solutions or implement something lightweight. I began leading the DRI’s trying to understand what are the team’s bottlenecks and how were they solving them. What was your focus when you launched BizOps? We got to the point where we had all this data, and I thought to myself: “What’s next? How can we can we use this to actually improve the efficiency of operation workflows?” And that is where BizOps comes in. With this realization, I worked with one of our data engineers to build a data stack, rolled out Metabase, and finally had a flurry of dashboards that informed us of every single product within the company and every single user flow. ![]() "I wanted to help people understand where they should be looking for information and how they could harness the data to improve the business." - Nigel It ballooned into something much bigger, and it became clear that we really needed to use the data we were pulling and get it back into the system. I started a data request board and was pulling together people’s data requests. As is common in the early stages of a company, we didn’t have a data team. I moved on to work on data-related items because I recognized a gap at the time. This involved managing anything and everything that happens with companies, such as the exits and distributions, and the processes that come with that. I started off at AngelList doing financial operations. What are you responsible for at AngelList Venture? How has it evolved? At AngelList, we break down by stage of deal: there's a team for setting up an entity to close, executing the work itself (LPs, GPs, documents), and a team for after a deal closes (post-closed actions whether it's a new round of financing, exit, or anything in between). There are many ways to staff an operations team. ![]() How do you organize Operations at AngelList today? This highlight is a microcosm of the game: Tennessee ran Henry to the outside most often, and he ran over and carried defenders for extra yards. His 3.2 yards per carry after contact are the second-most this season among running backs.Īgainst the Patriots, Henry chewed up the clock and New England’s defenders. Henry’s 29 broken tackles are tied for third-most this season among running backs. ![]() The Browns would beat the Ravens 40-25, one of just three games this season in which Baltimore didn’t own the edge in time of possession.įor the Titans, Henry punishes defenders and picks up extra yards. Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb routinely ran through and around Baltimore’s defenders en route to 165 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns on just 20 attempts. Granted, it was before many of their defensive roster changes, but take a look at Week 4 for a prime example of how poor tackling has killed Baltimore just this season. Though the Ravens have the fifth-fewest missed tackles this season, according to Pro Football Reference, when they’ve struggled to tackle, things have gone badly for them. That ultimately means wrapping up and bringing down the ball carrier and not allowing them to pick up extra yards. ![]() In order for Baltimore to secure a win, the defense will have to remain stout for all 60 minutes and shut down the run primarily. Tannehill’s 4.3 rushing attempts per start ranked seventh among NFL quarterbacks (minimum eight starts), pointing to Tennessee’s offense also utilizing their quarterback in a less traditional role. And with a midseason change at quarterback from Marcus Mariota to Ryan Tannehill, the rest of the offense has finally begun to flourish as well. ![]() In similar fashion, the Titans have relied on league-leading rusher Derrick Henry to carry them through the season. The Ravens also leaned on quarterback Lamar Jackson to pick up yards in key situations as a change of pace in rushing style, forcing defenses into picking their poison. The Baltimore Ravens will get a taste of their own medicine next week when they take on the Tennessee Titans in the AFC divisional round.īaltimore’s prolific rushing attack has been predicated on power running from players like Mark Ingram and Gus Edwards, wearing opposing defenses down while opening up throwing lanes. ![]() Granted, profit is a different story Valve isn’t believed to be making much profit from each Index sold, but still, a large revenue stream generated by the headset is overall a good thing for the company, as long as it’s breaking even or better. Given how infrequently Valve’s own Half-Life: Alyx has appeared in the top 10, we’d wager that the headset has earned the company far more revenue. Looking at the historical data, we can see how often the headset has permeated the top 10 best selling Steam products of each week, including eight separate weeks where it’s topped the charts at #1. On certain weeks over its 13 week streak, Index has surpassed the weekly revenue of major games like Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, and others. Still, it seems quite impressive that the headset’s revenue is ranking alongside some of the world’s best selling games. It’s worth remembering that the ranking is by revenue to put things into perspective, each Index kit sold costs the same as about 17 games at $60 each. ![]() With Valve Index supply ramping back up after supply disruptions, we can see that the $1,000 headset has been among the top five best selling products for 13 weeks running. SteamDB maintains an archive of the weekly top 10. But from a revenue standpoint, the headset seems to be treating Valve very well.Īlthough Valve doesn’t share how much revenue individual products make on its platform, Steam does rank the top selling products, by revenue, each week. Original Article (January 26, 2021): From a unit standpoint, it’s unlikely that the $1,000 Valve Index is selling all that many headsets compared to cheaper headsets like Oculus Quest. The prior update, which tracked Index’s demand at its second anniversary, continues below. ![]() However there’s hints and rumors that Valve is working on a next-gen VR headset. The company’s VR efforts have significantly slowed, at least from the outside. HTC, for instance, has seen its share of headsets drop from around 28% to just 11% over the last two years.ĭespite continued demand for Index, questions remain about Valve’s commitment to VR. Other headset makers haven’t been as resilient to the onset of Quest 2. That’s despite the $1,000 price for the Index ‘full kit’, and significantly cheaper options like HP’s Reverb G2 and Quest 2 which have immerged after Index was released.Įven with the incredible pace at which Quest 2 has ascended to become the most used headset on Steam, Index has has been incredibly resistant, managing to maintain a share of around 16% of all headsets used on Steam-hanging onto its place as the second most used headset on the platform. The now three year old headset continues to been seen with regularity among the 10 highest grossing products on Steam, with only a slow decline in the long run. Valve has been pretty quiet about VR in the last year, but its first and only VR headset, Valve Index, has shown impressive longevity. There were also discussions at the New York Comic Con about a holiday overlay. It’s a lot of fun…we got to test it and play with it early this year.” What do you think the holiday overlay will entail at Cosmic Rewind this year? This song will be the song you hear during the holiday season at EPCOT. Imagineer Wyatt Winter explained, “This is an all-new, unique mashup song taking a lot of your favorite holiday songs we all know and love, and creating a new song with it…Imagineers were able to do some custom lyrics. We do not know if the other standard songs on Cosmic Rewind will continue to play as well or if it’ll just be this new holiday song during the holiday season. It appears that one new song, which will be a mashup of multiple holiday songs along with some new lyrics, will be playing this holiday season for those guests brave enough to ride Cosmic Rewind. They also released concept art for what appears to be called “Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind – Holiday Remix.” Then earlier this month at the New York Comic Con 2022, a panel of Walt Disney Imagineers took to the stage to talk about Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. None of this applies to most 44 shooters and the people who launch 330's and heavier as hard as they can have figured out long ago what works in what. The brass/copper alloy bullets being longer for the same weight, samo samo, need a lot of cylinder length for the heavier versions. I know we hate colt nowadays, but I would consider one of those if I didn’t have one already. I passed on the deal and haven’t looked back. It fit my hand OK, but the mass, trigger and just overall feel were not the same. I went to a local shop and checked out a 629 ( it was about half the price of what I was offered for my colt ). I have had several guys try to buy it from me. I think it was almost an even trade (I think I paid $60 difference) for the snake v/s the Ruger. As they were brand new, the dealer was having special deals. The Anaconda came out, went to the local fun store, handled one and it fir my hand much better. The grip on the Ruger just wasn’t comfortable, shot it for several years anyway. I started off with a Ruger Redhawk with a 7 1/2” barrel (couldn’t afford the expensive S&W, plus I don’t think the 629 was out yet and I like stainless!).
